Abstract
Objective:
The objective of this study was to formulate and evaluate a herbal bilayer soap using natural plant extracts with beneficial effects on skin health. The selected ingredients included herbal components such as sandalwood and other plant-based extracts known for their cleansing, antimicrobial, and skin-nourishing properties. The bilayer concept was designed to provide combined benefits of different herbal layers in a single formulation without interactions with each other.
Methods:
The herbal extracts were prepared and incorporated into a soap base using the melt and pour method. The first layer was poured and allowed to partially solidify, followed by the addition of the second herbal layer to form a bilayer structure. The prepared soap was evaluated for various parameters. Comparative analysis was a carried out against marketed soap brands.
Results:
The formulated herbal bilayer soap showed satisfactory results in terms of appearance, texture, and stability. It exhibited good foaming ability, cleansing action, and acceptable pH suitable for skin. The bilayer structure enhanced its aesthetic appeal and functional properties. Comparable cleansing ability and foam formation as commercial soaps, pH within skin friendly range ensuring safety.
Conclusion:
Based on the results, it can be concluded that the herbal bilayer soap possesses good cleansing, moisturizing, and may exhibit better antimicrobial properties due to bael and moringa extract. The use of natural ingredients reduces the side effects associated with synthetic soaps and provides a safer alternative for skin care as reported in many studies in mentioned in various literature survey.
