A selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor, etoricoxib has a lower risk of gastrointestinal effects than conventional nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs). We assessed the efficiency and tolerability of etoricoxib in reducing pain in a group of adults and very elderly individuals with chronic pain from osteoarthritis. This project primarily intends to develop mucoadhesive buccal patches to boost bioavailability and eliminate drawbacks like choking while swallowing, especially in the case of tablets and capsules, and to avoid the need for water when taking tablets and capsules.
