Abstract
Azilsartan (AZ) is a BCS-class II drug that is insoluble in water and has a low bioavailability (13%). The aim of the present work was to prepare the microspheres of Azilsartan improving solubility and hence bioavailability. The microspheres of Azilsartan was prepared by solvent evaporation technique with Eudragit RL 100 by using various ratios (1:1, 1:3 and 1:5).Microspheres was evaluated by Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM),Differential scanning electron microscopy, Saturation solubility and in-vitro studies. The solid state characterization revealed that no drug polymer interaction and the formulations F2 shows (1:3) better in vitro drug release from other formulation. Among these three formulations F2 shows better sustained release than F1 and F3. As a result, drug loaded microsphere appear to be a promising approach for increasing the solubility and bioavailability of Azilsartan .
