Abstract
This study determined the level of teachers’ research productivity and the extent of challenges encountered in conducting educational research among educators in the Lingig District, Surigao del Sur Division. Using a quantitative descriptive-survey research design, the study comprehensively evaluated teachers’ research productivity along with the challenges encountered across four primary dimensions: cognitive, technical, administrative, and personal difficulties. Survey data were gathered from a total population of 55 public school teachers across selected elementary, secondary, integrated schools, and the Alternative Learning System (ALS) via whole enumeration sampling. Weighted mean and standard deviation were utilized as the primary statistical treatments. Findings revealed that teachers’ research productivity was evaluated as “Sometimes Demonstrated,” indicating a moderate level of baseline engagement in proposal presentations, research execution, publication, and data utilization. Furthermore, the study established that cognitive difficulties (M = 3.22, SD = 1.20) and technical difficulties (M = 3.23, SD = 1.02) were encountered to a “Moderate Extent,” while administrative and personal difficulties were encountered to a “Great Extent”. Challenges primarily stemmed from gaps in applied statistical knowledge, institutional technical limitations, heavy administrative workloads, and low research writing confidence. To address these localized systemic barriers and build technical research capacity, a structured Research Capability Enhancement Program (RCEP) was proposed as an actionable institutional framework.
