THE ART OF DOING MORE FOR LESS: LIVED EXPERIENCES OF TEACHERS IN MANAGING WORKLOAD

This study explored the lived experiences of public secondary teachers in New Bataan District, Davao de Oro, in managing instructional and non-instructional workload demands. Using a qualitative-phenomenological design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with seven purposively selected teachers and analyzed thematically. Findings revealed that excessive administrative tasks, coordinatorships, and limited resources negatively affect lesson preparation, instruction, and daily routines, leading to time constraints and fatigue. Despite these challenges, teachers demonstrated resilience through prioritization, time management, collaboration, and resourcefulness. They also relied on support from colleagues, administrators, family, and institutional programs. These experiences enhanced their organizational skills, flexibility, collaboration, and professional commitment. The study concludes that while workload challenges persist, teachers remain dedicated and innovative, underscoring the need for stronger institutional support and reduced administrative burden to improve teacher well-being and instructional quality.
