Abstract
This study examines the performance of the Anti-Drug Commission (ADC) in Tanzania, particularly its efficacy in reducing illicit drug use within Kinondoni Municipal Council. Despite the establishment of the ADC under the Anti-Drug Control Act in 1995, rising drug abuse, especially among youth, presents a growing public health concern. Through a mixed-methods approach, the research investigates the ADC’s strategies in public education, community outreach, and rehabilitation services, alongside their associated challenges, including stigma, inadequate funding, and the evolving landscape of drug trafficking. Quantitative analysis reveals a strong community demand for skills training and culturally relevant programs, while qualitative insights highlight the need for modernization in outreach methods. Ultimately, the findings underscore the importance of tailored, supportive, and resource-adequate interventions to enhance the ADC's effectiveness and foster healthier communities in Tanzania
