Abstract
In this paper, a robust second order sliding mode controller for the control of dc-dc buck converter is designed and analyzed. Dynamic equations of buck converter have been derived and sliding mode controller has been designed. A two-loop control is employed for a buck converter. The robustness of the buck converter system using sliding mode control is tested against input voltage variations. The results have been compared with PI-sliding mode controller. Matlab/Simulink is used for the simulations. Simulation results indicate that the super twisting second order sliding mode controller not only reduces the chattering but also ensures accurate and fast response as compared to PI-sliding mode controller.
