Abstract
Quantum mechanics has recently advanced significantly thanks to developments in hardware that bring theoretical concepts into practical applications. These advances have helped the discovery of new uses for quantum mechanics in computational algorithms. Unlike traditional models, quantum algorithms offer unique approaches that can outperform classical methods in certain areas. This paper introduces a novel application of the Variational Quantum Classifier for fault detection in the transmission lines. The proposed solution is tested on the simulated shortage faults in a three-phase transmission line. The results are compared with another classical approach using K-Means and fuzzy clustering methods
