Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) remains the leading cause of maternal mortality in low-resource countries, including Mauritania. Intrauterine balloon tamponade (IUBT) represents an effective conservative option bridging first-line medical management and surgery. Results: All 4 patients were successfully managed with IUBT (Bakri balloon or Rusch balloon), avoiding surgical intervention in every case. Mean age was 28.5 years; uterine atony was the main etiology (3 cases). No device-related complications were recorded.
