Abstract
Abstract
Background: Menometrorrhagia is a frequent gynecological complaint requiring accurate etiological diagnosis.
Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic contribution of hysteroscopy in patients presenting with menometrorrhagia at CHME.
Methods: A prospective descriptive and analytical study was conducted from October 2023 to June 2024 including 75 patients with abnormal uterine bleeding requiring diagnostic hysteroscopy. Epidemiological, clinical, imaging, hysteroscopic, histopathological and therapeutic data were analyzed.
Results: The mean age was 41.25 years. Hysteroscopy was normal in 33.3% of cases. The most frequent abnormalities were endometrial polyps (12%), endometrial atrophy (10.7%), endometrial thickening (10.7%), synechiae (10.7%) and submucosal myoma (9.3%). Concordance between ultrasound and hysteroscopy was 72%, while concordance between hysteroscopy and histopathology reached 86.67%. No major complications were reported.
Conclusion: Diagnostic hysteroscopy is a reliable and safe method for the evaluation of menometrorrhagia, allowing direct visualization of intrauterine lesions and improving therapeutic management.
