Improve the Classification and Treatment of Inferior Vena Cava Aneurysm: A Case Report and literature review of IVC

ABSTRACT In this case study, we present the medical history of a 30-year-old male who had no previous medical conditions but experienced abdominal pain, leading him to seek medical attention. To determine the cause of the pain, various imaging tests such as computed tomography and digital subtraction angiography were conducted. These tests revealed that the patient had inferior vena cava agenesis, a condition where the inferior vena cava is absent, and an IVC aneurysm, which was classified based on further investigation. The aneurysm was found to originate from the right side of the IVC above the renal veins due to the potential risks of pulmonary embolization and rupture associated with the condition, the patient underwent surgery to address the issue. The surgical intervention involved the placement of an artificial vascular structure to rectify the problem. To prevent complications and promote healing, we recommend postoperative anticoagulation therapy for six months. Additionally, regular follow-up appointments are advised to monitor the patient's progress and ensure the effectiveness of the treatment. In addition to presenting this specific case, we also conducted a review of previously published cases that involved similar conditions. This review aimed to gather information on the classifications of inferior vena cava agenesis and IVC aneurysms, providing a broader understanding of these rare conditions. By examining these cases, we can contribute to the existing body of knowledge and potentially identify patterns or commonalities that may aid in the diagnosis and treatment of future patients with similar conditions.
