Abstract

This research is about the use of digital storytelling (DST) to the historical consciousness of the eleventh-grade General Academic Strand students at Purisima National High School. Through the joining of different media elements, such as images, audio, and video, the digital storytelling changes the students from passive learners to active creators of the historical narratives. The discussion of literature points DST out as an innovative, interactive, and culturally relevant teaching tool that promotes not only critical thinking but also reflective learning and appreciation of cultural heritage. Studies both locally and internationally show that DST leads to better academic performance, more engagement, and deeper understanding of history. This study points out that the main advantage of the DST in teaching history is its ability to link historical events to the students' personal, cultural, and civic identities which makes it a very good teaching strategy for the 21st-century history class.
