Abstract
Castellated column is defined as increasing width of column without increasing self weight of section. Due to the increase in width the radius of gyration of section increases, due to this the slenderness ratio decreases and strength of column get increases. In this project there are eight sections are tested for buckling, in which four sections are regular column and four sections are castellated column. The end condition assembly prepared from steel plate and bolt connection. The section are tested for four end condition in which both end fixed, one end fixed one end pinned, one end fixed one end free and both end pinned. These all section are tested on universal testing machine. The two dial gauges are attached to the section for measuring buckling of column. According to this testing the stiffness of each section is calculated. After this the all section are analysis in the ANSYS software for finding the stresses developed in the section. According to Ansys analysis and experimental analysis this is clear that the load taken by both end fixed castellated column is more as compare to all other type of column. But stresses developed in the castellated section are more as compare to regular section. So castellated section is more effective as compare to regular section for loading condition not effective in term of stress parameter.
