Abstract
This research investigates the impact of land pooling and land acquisition on rural livelihoods in the Amaravati Capital Region of Andhra Pradesh, India. The development of Amaravati as a new capital city required large-scale transformation of agricultural land, affecting rural households dependent on farming. Using a quantitative descriptive research design, primary data were collected from 412 respondents, including landowners, tenant farmers, and landless labourers, through a structured questionnaire survey. The analysis examines changes in living standards, employment opportunities, income patterns, compensation processes, and post-acquisition challenges. Results indicate that most respondents perceive improvements in living standards and employment opportunities. However, benefits are unevenly distributed across stakeholder groups. Landowners report greater economic gains, while tenant farmers and landless labourers face constraints such as delays in compensation, rising living costs, and limited rehabilitation support. Statistical tests show significant differences across land status categories. The research concludes that these processes create socio-economic disparities among affected households.
