Abstract
This study examines and compares the level of awareness of Green Accounting practices among undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students in non-professional streams. Green Accounting integrates environmental costs into traditional accounting systems to support sustainable development.
The study is based on primary data collected through a structured questionnaire using Google Forms from 56 students across Commerce, Arts, and Science streams. Data were analyzed using percentage analysis, mean scores, and the Chi-Square test.
Findings indicate that overall awareness of Green Accounting is moderate. PG students show relatively higher awareness than UG students; however, the difference is not statistically significant at the 5% level. The study also identifies key gaps such as lack of curriculum integration, limited practical exposure, and insufficient awareness initiatives.
The study concludes that awareness can be improved through curriculum inclusion, practical learning, and institutional efforts, thereby promoting environmentally responsible behavior among students.
