Abstract
This study examines the cultural empowerment of rural tourism in Sonargaon, Bangladesh, emphasizing its historical importance and extensive artisan legacy. The study commences by delineating the research background, objectives, and significance, underscoring the necessity for sustainable tourism that bolsters local economies while safeguarding cultural identity. A thorough examination of both national and international literature reveals deficiencies in comprehending how cultural empowerment can improve rural tourism. The study is based on clear definitions of important ideas like cultural empowerment, rural tourism, and rural cultural tourism. The study utilizes a comprehensive theoretical framework and a variety of methodologies to collect data. A survey of Sonargaon's cultural tourism resources divides them into four groups: architecture, historical artifacts, souvenirs, and cultural activities. This sets the stage for a more in-depth look. Different types of cultural empowerment are looked at, such as architectural, ethnic, folk, agricultural, and culinary tourism. These include static museums, participatory festivals, theme parks, and educational experiences.Empirical data gathered via questionnaires provides significant insights into tourist experiences and the readiness of local residents to participate in tourism development, with reliability and validity assessments confirming the robustness of the results. The study shows that Sonargaon's tourism industry is facing problems right now, such as weak development efforts and old infrastructure. It suggests ways to improve things, like making the village visits more lively, getting visitors more involved through creative experience designs, and encouraging community involvement all of which are important for long-term growth. The conclusion summarizes the most important discoveries, new ideas, and limitations, as well as the future of cultural empowerment in Sonargaon's rural tourism. This in-depth study seeks to enhance comprehension of the utilization of cultural empowerment for the sustainable advancement of rural tourism in Sonargaon, ultimately benefiting both the local community and the wider tourism industry.
