Abstract
This study examined the effectiveness of Facebook Learning Groups (FBLG) as an instructional strategy in improving students’ academic performance in Statistics and Probability. Using a quasi-experimental design, two groups of Grade 11 students were compared: a control group taught through modular distance learning and an experimental group taught through FBLG. Data were collected through a validated teacher-made pretest and posttest and analyzed using paired-sample t-tests and independent-sample t-tests via Jamovi. Findings revealed that both instructional approaches led to significant improvements in student performance; however, the experimental group exposed to FBLG achieved higher posttest scores and greater mean gain compared to the control group. The results suggest that FBLG provides a more engaging and interactive learning environment, enhancing students’ understanding and achievement in Statistics and Probability. The study concludes that integrating social media platforms such as Facebook into instruction can serve as an effective pedagogical intervention, supplementing traditional approaches and addressing learners’ diverse needs in the teaching-learning process.
