Abstract
With the increasing sophistication of cyberattacks, traditional cybersecurity measures often fall short in detecting and mitigating emerging threats. This project, “Digital Forensics with Fronesis: Early Detection of Cyber Threats”, presents an integrated approach that combines machine learning algorithms with digital forensic techniques to enhance early detection and investigation of malicious activities. The system leverages classification models including Random Forest, Logistic Regression, Decision Tree, and K-Nearest Neighbors to analyze network traffic, system logs, and event traces for anomalies indicative of cyber threats such as malware, phishing, ransomware, and DDoS attacks. By integrating digital forensic analysis, the system not only detects threats but also traces their origin and reconstructs attack patterns, providing actionable insights for incident response and legal proceedings. A Flask-based web interface enables real-time monitoring, alert generation, and forensic reporting. Experimental results demonstrate that the system achieves high accuracy, precision, and recall, validating its effectiveness as a proactive and investigative cybersecurity solution. The project offers a comprehensive framework to strengthen organizational defenses and mitigate risks associated with evolving cyber threats.
