IMPACT OF SMART CLASSROOM ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN SCIENCE
JEDD B. CUTAMORA
The impact of smart classroom on the academic performance of the Grade 6 science learners in Bantacan Elementary School was investigated in this study. It has been said that integrating smart classrooms into the educational system will revolutionize academic achievement, especially in scientific courses. It is important to strike a balance between using technology and exercising critical thinking so that students can develop a variety of skills. Smart classroom has robust infrastructure and technology assistance to ensure seamless learning experiences. This study utilized quantitative research approach, specifically quasi-experimental design. The researcher employed 51 Grade 6 learners from Bantacan Elementary School, divided into two groups: control group (25 students) which will take the pre-test and post-test using traditional pen and paper method and experimental group (26 students) for the smart classroom intervention. The results showed the higher mean scores and proficiency level during the pre-test and post-test of the experimental group compared to the control group. Also, there is significant difference between the pre-test and post-test mean scores of the Grade 6 learners, in favor of the experimental group Thus, smart classroom is highly effective to incorporate in teaching science to Grade 6 learners to improve their academic performance. The study recommends to further explore the efficiency and effectivity of smart classroom and other technology-based teaching interventions and enhance students’ digital and Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) literacy.
