Abstract
Abstract
Anemia, particularly iron deficiency anemia (IDA), remains a global health concern, disproportionately affecting women of reproductive age. This paper assesses the utilization of iron and folic acid supplements (IFAs) among young women aged 15-24 in Kibra Sub-County, Nairobi, Kenya. A cross-sectional descriptive research design was used, targeting 422 respondents selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and in-depth interviews. Key findings revealed a compliance rate of 89.3% for IFAs, with significant associations between compliance and socio-demographic factors, knowledge, and attitudes. Challenges included forgetting to take tablets, nausea, and IFAs shortages. Recommendations include targeted educational campaigns and policy interventions to enhance IFAs uptake and adherence.
