Abstract
Innovation means developing a product based on practices, existing standards, and materials being offered. A culture of innovation involves system practices among involved individuals, and it plays a vital role in the product development and service quality of any institution. It must be promoted among employees through regular practices and advanced engagements. This quantitative-descriptive study determined the Conrado F. Estrella Medical and Trauma Center employees' engagement in innovation and factors that affect their engagement and collaborative progression through engagement initiative, cognitive, and technology, through statistical analysis. The study concluded that nursing personnel are the backbone of the hospital. Hospital bed capacity determines the number of plantilla appointments, and contractual-based appointments remain in the government system. Most of its employees are newly hired and bachelor’s degree holders but are not engaged in continuing education. The employees initiate innovations and more in technological advantages, and somehow in grasping cognitively or psychologically about innovation-related matters. Employees are not yet satisfied with the orientation and information dissemination and others are not motivated and resilient to implementation transitions. Nonetheless, existing approaches, strategies, and monitoring and evaluation are helpful. Further, there is no established committee, and no support from the higher positions. There is a significant difference between the respondents’ profile and their engagement in innovation. The study recommends that the hospital should establish a culture of innovation to provide guidance, encouragement, or promote innovations among their employees, irrespective of their profiles.
