Abstract

This research paper intends to investigate the translation techniques used by the translator in translating the Hedelix Cough Syrup information leaflet from English to Arabic. This cough syrup is common in Libyan pharmacies. The literature review of this research points a light on the technical texts and how the technical translator differs from other translators. The researcher tries to analyze the Arabic version to find the translation techniques used by the translator and to determine whether s/he succeeded in conveying the intended meaning as well as the exact equivalences at all levels for the technical terms used in this medical document. The translation of the information leaflet was highly accurate despite a small number of errors that the researcher identifies.
