Abstract
Blockchain technology, originally conceived as the foundation for cryptocurrency systems, has emerged as a transformative force with wide-ranging implications across multiple sectors. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of blockchain technology, exploring its underlying principles, architecture, and diverse applications. We begin with an examination of the fundamental components of blockchain, including its decentralized ledger structure, consensus mechanisms, and cryptographic security features. The paper then delves into various blockchain types, such as public, private, and consortium blockchains, highlighting their distinct characteristics and use cases. We analyze the current applications of blockchain beyond cryptocurrency, including its role in enhancing transparency and security in supply chain management, healthcare, and voting systems.
