Abstract

Customs and traditions represent a type of informal control. These are the established habits and usages of people. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the system of these habits and usages in North Indian villages with major focus on Jammu & Kashmir. This study is an attempt to look into the traditions and customs among people with special reference to villages of Jammu and Kashmir division. For this study, the sampling technique is stratified random sampling , as sample was chosen on the basis of experience of the people of Jammu and Kashmir division. Secondary data was collected from various sources, journals, magazines, websites and online articles.
