Abstract
Dalit Christians constitute an important yet socially marginalized section of Indian society. Despite conversion to Christianity, many Dalit Christians continue to experience socio-economic deprivation, discrimination, and limited access to development opportunities. The present study examines the historical background, evolution, socio-economic conditions, constitutional guarantees, and human rights issues of Dalit Christians in Bidar District of Karnataka. Primary data were collected through field surveys and personal interviews, while secondary data were gathered from books, journals, census reports, and government publications. The findings indicate that most Dalit Christians are engaged in unskilled and low-income occupations with limited educational attainment. Although Christianity has positively influenced cultural identity and social solidarity, economic insecurity and limited political representation remain major concerns. The study highlights the need for focused welfare measures, legal reforms, and leadership development to ensure social justice and inclusive development.
