Abstract
The National Highways connects India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Maharashtra to West Bengal. They are very important for transportation of goods across the lengths and breadths of India. Presently, the length of National Highways in India is about 96261 km. They spread through all the states like a network, providing road connectivity throughout the country. NHAI (National Highway authority of India) is one of the most important PPP (Public private partnership) project undertaken in India. They have been entrusted with the project of 6 laning of Cherthala to Thiruvananthapuram section of NH 47 (New NH 66) of length 170.7km. The Current study is aimed at doing the pavement design of small phase of NH 66 that connects Cherthala to Thiruvananthapuram. This phase (phase I) starts from Thuravoor Thekku to Paravoor (Alappuzha district). Since the soil in this particular stretch is weak and there is a considerable traffic congestion, it is necessary to determine the pavement thickness
