Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to create a way to detect drowsiness, loss of attention of the driver and compare this method with already existing one’s. One of the causes of car accidents comes from driver's drowsiness and lack of attention. Face, the most important part of the body, transmits a lot of information. If the driver is in a state of exhaustion, facial expressions, for example the frequency of blinking and yawning, are completely different from the normal one's. The device detects the drivers’ fatigue/drowsiness level by using the features like yawning, blinking and period of eye closure. As for attention the system tracks the movement of eyes to detect loss of attention. We are introducing Haar Cascade face tracking algorithm to improve chase accuracy. In addition , we have a design replacement detection technique for facial regions supporting sixty eight facial landmarks. By combining all these options and testing it against the threshold values the system will notify the driver using an alarm or a text notification on detection of drowsiness or loss of attention.
