Abstract
The Citarik River is part of the Eastern Citarum Sub-watershed, with the headwaters of the Kareumbi Masigit Forest Conservation Area Sumedang District, and the river's downstream located in the Solokan Jeruk District, Bandung Regency. The length of the Citarik River reaches 39.64 km. Citarik River is a source of water for the surrounding community for household needs, agriculture, animal husbandry, industry, to tourism that can increase the level of pollution and reduce water quality conditions. This study aims to determine and analyze the structure of the plankton community in the Citarik River and water quality conditions. Sampling was carried out four times in June to July 2019. Sampling stations included upstream to downstream zones which were divided into four stations, namely station I in the conservation area of the Kareumbi Masigit Cicalengka Forest, station II in Cilame Village, Cicalengka District, Station III in the Village Haur Pugur Rancaekek District, and station IV at the Sapan-Citarik Water Gate Bridge. The composition of phytoplankton from this research consisted of 63 genera and four classes that was Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae and Euglenophyceae, whereas zooplankton consisted of 12 genera and 6 classes that was Filosia, Lobosa, Branchiopoda, Maxillopoda, Monogonta, and Cilliatea. The highest phytoplankton density was at Station 4 of the Bacillariophyceae class of 22829 ind/L, while the highest density of zooplankton was at Station 4 in the Monogonta class of 927 ind/L. The value of the phytoplankton diversity index was ranged from 2.08 – 3.10 and the zooplankton diversity index value had a value of 0.64–1.98 including moderate diversity. The phytoplankton evenness index values was ranged from 0.22 to 0.41 and the zooplankton evenness index ranged from 0.17 to 0.73 categorized as low evenness. The phytoplankton dominance index had a range of 0.08 – 0.18 and the zooplankton dominance index of 0.15 – 0.60 was in the low dominance category. In general, the quality of Citarik River water from upstream to downstream was based on physical, chemical and biological parameters is classified as class 3 (fishery) based on Indonesian Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001.
