Abstract
For vehicle safety, durability, efficiency and reliability malfunction detection has become essential and even today, many two-wheeler owners and drivers especially beginners and women are unaware about the basic faults in their automobiles. They are mostly dependent on the mechanic for fault diagnosis.Detection of engine faults using sensors is a challenging task . Hence, acoustic signals of engines are a great contributor which can help us identify the state of the engine. Fault detection and alerting systems have already been developed for high end four-wheelers but none for basic two wheeler models. Thus, there is a need for such a system for two wheelers.The model proposed in this paper is a low cost sensor based fault detection algorithm to forewarn the user on timely basis.
