Abstract
The high-end hardware devices like Raspberry Pi and FPGA or personal computers in conjecture with software like OpenCV, VHDL and MATLAB is the popular choice for the image processing and image acquisition task. But the microcontrollers is certainly cheaper and programming wise less costly solution in comparison to the high-end devices. The paper proposes the possibility of introducing high performance embedded system using Cortex-M$ CPU for the image processing task. The implementation was applied for Canny edge detection algorithm with Arduino Uno and ArduCam Mini as the image acquisition tool. The implementation provided results close to the result obtained from the MATLAB for the test image of size 70 pixel by 70 pixel with almost equal PSNR value.
