A STUDY ON BENEFITS DUE TO IMPLEMENTATION OF 5S AND REDESIGNING OF LAYOUT AT ALASKA EXPORT

This paper focuses on providing the benefits of workplace in an organization for the employees by implementing 5S and redesigning the layout. The research focuses on the problems faced by the employees in accessing the materials, reducing excessive waste, unorganized warehouse and uncomfortablespace in the stores, to change the layout in order to improve the productivity and efficiency and to implement the lean principles in the organization, standardized practices would prevail in the organization thereby the limits are set for wastage in each and every activity. The need for 5s implementation is to overcome these issues; a company can adopt a few lean manufacturing principles after studying the process improvements required by the organization. The study concludes that by introducing 5s principles and redesigning layout brings the great changes in the company.
