Abstract
Brain is a widely-analyzed topic. So far many studies focused on the Brain for various purpose like age-gender effects, task related effects, brain lateralization etc. This research work mainly focused on identification of the changes in resting state networks for ADHD & healthy controls and their lateralization. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common mental disorder. It is increasingly understood as a disorder of spontaneous brain network interaction. It is being viewed as a dysfunction of distributed brain networks rather than focal abnormalities. From the analysis results, ADHD and healthy control’s brain network changes and their lateralization effects are compared. Wada test is the standard technique to analyze the brain before surgery; however, it is invasive and associated with complications. The best alternative for this test is fMRI. fMRI is non-invasive and does not involve radiation, making it safer for the subject. This research work investigated the functional brain network differences in ADHD and healthy controls using fMRI. Data for 7 healthy subjects and 10 ADHD subjects were gathered and pre-processed using Statistical Parametric Mapping (SPM). The pre-processed data were analyzed using group Independent Component Analysis (gICA). The t test was performed using SPM. Using tmax value laterality cofactor is obtained. The Group ICA results shows that left occipital, temporal, and parietal regions are more activated for ADHD subjects than healthy subjects. Other regions are less activated than healthy subjects. Lateralization results indicated that ADHD controls had highly right lateralized occipital lobe and other lobes are not highly lateralized compared with healthy controls.
