Abstract
: Data is increasing day by day but most of the data is private. So it becomes necessary to protect data from hackers. Alphanumeric password is a traditional authentication technique used in most of the system, but it has shown significant drawbacks like easy passwords can be easily cracked, hard passwords are very difficult to remember. To overcome these drawbacks graphical passwords have been designed. The aim of generating graphical passwords is to make password more memorable and easier. This authentication system uses various techniques to provide more security. Various types of images and grids are used to build these system. Various techniques of authentication are discussed in this paper along with the strength and limitations of each method. We have proposed a new technique which is a combination of text and images to solve the security problem.
