Abstract
Abstract Background: Prakriti is the foundational phenotypic and genomic constitution in Ayurveda, determining an individual's anatomical, physiological, and psychological baseline. While classical texts heavily detail the subjective characteristics of Kapha Prakriti, contemporary integrative medicine requires objective, measurable pathological markers to validate these clinical observations. Objective: To critically review and synthesize existing literature correlating the classical conceptual traits of Kapha Prakriti with modern biochemical, metabolic, and hematological investigations. Methods: A comprehensive literature review of classical texts (including the Charaka Samhita) and modern peer-reviewed scientific literature correlating Prakriti with lipid profiles, glycemic indices, and metabolomics. Results: Kapha Prakriti is consistently associated with distinct biochemical patterns. Current pathological investigations reveal baseline elevations in triglycerides, low-density lipoproteins (LDL), fasting insulin, and specific inflammatory markers (hsCRP, IL-6). Metabolomic profiling indicates dominance in specific pathways, such as sphingolipid and pyrimidine metabolism, which predispose these individuals to Santarpana Janya Vyadhi (metabolic and lifestyle disorders). Conclusion: Validating Kapha Prakriti through standard pathological investigations provides a robust framework for predictive and personalized medicine. However, large-scale, double-arm clinical trials are required to establish Prakriti-specific clinical reference ranges.
