Abstract

Narikela Lāvana is an important formulation of Āyurveda indicated in Amlapitta (acid peptic disorders), Agni-māndya (low digestive power), and allied gastrointestinal conditions. Different classical treatises prescribe distinct methods of preparation that influence the final product’s physical and therapeutic properties. This study aims at a comparative and analytical evaluation of Narikela Lāvana prepared by two classical methods—one from Bhaishajya Ratnavali and the other from Rasatarangini. The comparative analysis revealed that differences in processing—especially retention of coconut water and variation in heating methods—lead to variation in organoleptic characters, stability, and probable pharmacological activity.
