FROM BLACKBOARD TO KEYBOARD: UNCOVERING THE CHALLENGES AND TRIUMPHS OF SEASONED TEACHERS IN TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION ON CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION

This phenomenological study uncovered the challenges and triumphs of seasoned teacher in technology integration on classroom instruction. Eight seasoned teachers from Maragusan Central Elementary School, Magcagong Elementary School and Paloc Elementary School who have been teaching for 10 years or more were selected as the participants. Participants were selected through purposive sampling. Findings revealed that seasoned teacher were experiencing challenges such as, lack of technological skills, unstable internet connection, unstable electricity, and lack of resources which leads them to feel fear, nervous and worried, unsure, challenged, overwhelmed, stress and disappointment. However, Seasoned teacher also felt excitement, and happy knowing that technology help them saves time, makes lesson engaging and meaningful, and makes communication and resources better and accessible. Moreover, seasoned teacher express their triumph in slowly adapting technology and embracing it as part of today’s trend, they are also proud that they accomplished something, like creating interactive songs and activities through technology. The findings also revealed the importance of balancing technology and traditional method in classroom instruction. Hence, the author suggest the institution or DepED should establish a strong support for teachers, provide them with sufficient tools, training and seminars, and equip them with digital tools. For seasoned teacher, continue to explore technology tools as it offers teachers a lot of benefits in teaching.
