MANAGEMENT SKILLS OF THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE AS PREDICTORS OF TEACHER'S PROFESSIONAL GROWTH

This study determined the predictive influence of school principals’ management skills and organizational culture on teachers’ professional growth in selected public secondary schools. Specifically, it assessed the level of management skills of school principals in terms of planning, organizing, and controlling; the level of organizational culture in terms of mission, adaptability, involvement, and consistency; and the level of teachers’ professional growth in terms of enhancement of teachers’ knowledge, collaboration, and time and resources. It also examined the significant relationships among these variables and identified the dimensions that significantly predict teachers’ professional growth. A quantitative research design utilizing a descriptive-correlational approach was employed. Data were gathered from teacher-respondents through a validated survey questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, Spearman’s rho, and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis were used to analyze the data. The findings revealed that school principals demonstrated a high level of management skills in planning, organizing, and controlling. Likewise, organizational culture was rated high in terms of mission, adaptability, involvement, and consistency. Teachers’ professional growth was also found to be high across all measured dimensions. Furthermore, the results showed significant positive relationships between school principals’ management skills and teachers’ professional growth, as well as between organizational culture and teachers’ professional growth. Multiple regression analysis indicated that the dimensions of management skills and organizational culture significantly predicted teachers’ professional growth. Among the predictors, organizational culture dimensions, particularly mission and involvement, emerged as strong determinants of teachers’ professional growth. Based on the findings, it was concluded that effective management skills of school principals and a positive organizational culture contribute significantly to enhancing teachers’ professional growth. Therefore, school leaders are encouraged to strengthen management practices and cultivate a supportive organizational culture to promote continuous professional development among teachers.
