PARENTAL RESILIENCE, EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE, AND LEARNERS' ACADEMIC OUTCOMES PROFILES AT OLAYVAR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, BISLIG CITY DIVISION: A DESCRIPTIVE–DEVELOPMENTAL STUDY

This study examined the levels of parental resilience and emotional intelligence and the academic outcomes profiles of learners at Olayvar Elementary School, Bislig City Division, and used the findings as the basis for developing a Parent Capability Program. Employing a descriptive–developmental quantitative design, the study included 110 parent-respondents and 110 matched learner records for School Year 2025–2026. Parental resilience was measured using the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC-10), and parental emotional intelligence was assessed through the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS), covering Self-Emotion Appraisal (SEA), Others' Emotion Appraisal (OEA), Use of Emotion (UOE), and Regulation of Emotion (ROE). Results revealed that the overall parental resilience mean was 29.23 (Moderate), while parental emotional intelligence was High (M = 5.41). Among the EI dimensions, SEA obtained the highest mean (5.53) and OEA the lowest (5.13). The academic outcomes profile of Grades 1–6 learners yielded an overall mean general average of 85.56 (Very Satisfactory). Based on these findings, a seven-component Parent Capability Program was developed to strengthen coping skills, emotional regulation, empathy, and home-school partnership. The study concludes that while most parents demonstrated favorable emotional and adaptive capacities, a significant proportion required further support, warranting a structured, school-based parent development initiative.
