Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the effects of the Marungko approach on reading comprehension of learners of Upper New Visayas Elementary School, Trento, Agusan del Sur, for the School Year 2025-2026. Employing a quasi-experimental methodology, the data were collected using a validated questionnaire from purposively selected pupils. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the improvements of the pupils in the control and experimental groups based on their posttest scores. This implies that the group exposed to the Marungko approach performed better compared to traditional instruction based on the posttest mean scores. Overall, the study found that after receiving the instruction using the Marungko approach, pupils demonstrated higher posttest mean scores compared to the pupils in the control group, which indicates that the Marungko approach was more effective in improving the pupils’ reading comprehension. This study would be beneficial to the field of education by contributing valuable insights into improving pupils’ reading comprehension.
