Abstract
The study investigated the impact of autonomy and workload on teachers’ performance among 87 regular teachers in Nabunturan West District, Nabunturan, Davao De Oro, Philippines. Using a quantitative descriptive-correlational research design, data were gathered through adapted questionnaires administered to teachers, along with the collection of their Classroom Observation (CO) ratings. Results revealed that teacher autonomy and workload have a very weak and non-significant relationship with teacher performance, indicating that these variables do not meaningfully influence CO ratings. Further analysis showed no significant relationships between the domains of teacher autonomy and workload and teacher performance; hence, multiple regression analysis was not conducted, as it requires a significant correlation. Despite this, teachers consistently demonstrated outstanding performance regardless of differences in autonomy and workload levels. Overall, it can be concluded that teacher performance is likely influenced more by other factors, such as professional competence, experience, and institutional support, rather than by autonomy and workload alone.
