Abstract
This study examined the impact of parental support on the academic performance and extracurricular engagement of students. A survey was conducted on a sample of 160 students from selected elementary schools in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur. The results showed that parental support was often manifested. Further, the result of the level of academic performance of students as measured by their final grades and participation in extracurricular activities was described as very satisfactory. The result also revealed that there was no significant relationship between parental support and the academic performance and extracurricular engagement of students. From the results of the study, it was recommended that parents continue to provide guidance, encouragement, and resources to support their children’s education. Teachers and school administrators should strengthen communication with parents to foster students’ academic and extracurricular growth, promote equitable academic progress, and further research should explore additional factors influencing academic performance and extracurricular engagement, including intrinsic motivation, teaching quality, peer influence, and school resources, to better understand the mediating effects of parental support.
