Abstract
English is the most widely spoken language in the world compared to any other language. Nowadays, learning English has become a craze. Teachers in India use many methods, techniques, and approaches for teaching English, such as the Grammar Translation Method, Structural Approach, Direct Method, Communicative Approach, and Eclectic Approach. ESL learners sometimes face difficulties in learning English. However, if they are taught through the scaffolding technique, these difficulties can be overcome. Scaffolding is a process through which a teacher provides support to students in order to enhance learning and help them master tasks. By using the scaffolding technique, teachers engage students in various classroom activities and tasks. Thus, ESL teachers can use scaffolding for reading comprehension, vocabulary building, enhancing writing skills, and developing communicative competence.
