Abstract
School feeding programs are widely implemented as education-sector social protection measures, with expected benefits for learners’ nutrition, attendance, and classroom readiness. This study examined the perceived effectiveness of the Department of Education’s School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) in the Division of Bislig City, CARAGA Region, Philippines, based on the perceptions of teachers and administrators. A quantitative descriptive–correlational design was employed using a researcher-made survey questionnaire with indicators on program implementation, nutritional and health benefits, academic and behavioral impact, and stakeholder involvement and satisfaction. The instrument underwent expert validation and pilot testing (Cronbach’s α = 0.91). Respondents included 51 school administrators (total enumeration) and 152 teachers (simple random sampling) from eight districts (N = 203) during SY 2024–2025. Descriptive statistics (weighted mean, standard deviation) were used, and inferential analyses included Pearson correlation and independent-samples t-test at α = 0.05. Results indicated that respondents perceived the SBFP as highly effective overall (grand mean = 4.20/5). Program implementation (M = 4.28) and nutritional and health benefits (M = 4.27) obtained the highest ratings, followed by stakeholder involvement and satisfaction (M = 4.18) and academic and behavioral impact (M = 4.07). Community involvement (M = 3.85) received comparatively lower ratings, suggesting a need to strengthen partnerships to support sustainability.
