Abstract
Road safety is significantly affected by potholes and humps, which often lead to vehicle damage, traffic disturbances, and accidents. This project proposes an automated system for the detection and notification of potholes and humps using an ESP32-CAM and an AI-based YOLOv8 detection model. The ESP32-CAM continuously captures real-time road images, while the YOLOv8 model identifies potholes with high accuracy. IR sensors are integrated to avoid obstacles during navigation. A servo-controlled concrete dispensing mechanism is included for future enhancement, enabling automated pothole refilling. The system streams live video and detection alerts to a web interface, allowing users to monitor road conditions instantly. This solution aims to support drivers, improve road maintenance efficiency, and enhance overall transportation safety through intelligent automation.
