Abstract

This study investigates the influence of English cooperative oral speaking tests on students’ learning methods at the university level. The research explores how cooperative assessment practices affect learners’ engagement, preparation strategies, communication skills, and metacognitive awareness. Using both quantitative and qualitative data collected from English-major students at Thai Nguyen University of Sciences, the study reveals that cooperative speaking tests foster collaboration, encourage active learning, and promote strategy-based preparation. The results indicate a shift from passive, memorization-based learning toward a more interactive, reflective, and communicative learning approach.
