Abstract
One of the world's largest energy consumers, India, is increasingly using solar energy as a sustainable energy source. Environmental factors like dust accumulation, however, have a major impact on photovoltaic panel efficiency and can reduce energy output by as much as 50%. Furthermore, the majority of solar panels are fixed and do not adapt to the movement of the sun, which reduces the amount of energy they capture. To improve panel performance, this project presents a Smart Solar Care System that combines an automated cleaning unit with a dual-axis sun-tracking mechanism. The solar panel is dynamically aligned with the position of the sun by means of light sensors and microcontroller-based controls. Dust is periodically removed by either dry brushing or water spraying.
