Abstract

This qualitative phenomenological study explores the lived experiences of seven Manobo students from Sitio This phenomenological study scrutinizes the lived experiences of Generation X teachers in utilizing technology to teach Generation Z learners within selected public elementary schools in Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte. As digital natives, Gen Z students pose a unique challenge to Gen X educators who often face a steep learning curve in adopting new technologies. The study employed in-depth interviews to generate data from eight participants who were purposively selected. The researchers note that the initial interaction with technology among the elderly was not preceded by systematic learning and consequently, it was laden with trepidation and uncertainty. The main barriers are the lack of institutional support, poor infrastructure, and low digital skills. The nursing students also employed several ingenious coping mechanisms such as self-learning, seeking assistance from colleagues and planning for contingencies. The educators were more innovative and open to new ideas in their teaching approaches. The instructors reported enhanced confidence and professional growth due to the changes. Thus, there is a need to consider the age of teachers when designing inclusive education policies and amplify older teachers to use technology confidently in their work.
