Ethical Implications of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Decision-Making

Artificial Intelligence is in use in most hospitals today to allow doctors to do the diagnosis of diseases; recommend treatments or even give predictions on patients who are likely to deteriorate. It is quick and tends to be quite precise saving time and lives. However, on theotherhand,therearealsobigconcernsthatweshouldmention.ButwhatwilloccurwhentheAI makes a mistake? Does it discriminate against any parties of patients, or does it discriminate against them all? Is it possible that people can get to know how these systems work? And do patients in fact receive any information that a machine assisted in decision-making on their health?Theseareverycriticalquestions,whichhavebeenaddressedinthispaperwithregardto real life situations of AI practice. It demonstrates how AI could assist, and how dangerous it could get incase we are not cautious about it.The article also proposes how we may mend these issues such as those related to employing more equitable data, human oversight against the decision-making and the enhancement of AI that is more transparent and explicable. Finally,it can only be about implementing technology to assist people without losing trust, equity orhuman touch on the treatment of medicine.
