Abstract
This research examined the effectiveness of the Numeracy Disposition Enhancement Technique (NuDET) in improving the mathematical performance of Grade 10 students using three different teaching strategies: Conventional, ICT Integration, and Game-Based methods. In a study using a quasi-experimental design, researchers measured the impact of certain strategies on students' Mean Percentage Scores (MPS). They compared the scores of a group that used the strategies to a control group that didn't, both before and after the strategies were implemented. The intervention revealed that while all methods showed performance improvements, ICT Integration and Game-Based strategies produced significantly higher gains compared to conventional teaching. ANCOVA results indicated a statistically significant difference among the three groups (F = 31.83, p < .001), with post hoc analysis confirming that both ICT and Game-Based methods significantly outperformed conventional instruction. However, no significant difference was observed between ICT and Game-Based methods, suggesting comparable effectiveness. This study showed that the innovative teaching methods used in NuDET were effective. Specifically, the program's focus on reflective thinking, a growth mindset, and constructivist engagement improved students' motivation, problem-solving skills, and overall attitude toward mathematics. Based on these findings, a structured NuDET Intervention Program was developed as the study’s concrete output, offering teachers a practical and research-backed model to enhance numeracy disposition and achievement among learners. The researcher envisions this program as a scalable approach for educators seeking to strengthen mathematical literacy in secondary education.
