Abstract
Teaching students’ life skills is one of the primary aims of education, especially in light of the increasing demand for technical skills in the job market. This qualitative study employed a phenomenological approach, focusing on the lived experiences, challenges, coping mechanisms, and insights of TLE teachers from a select few public schools within the municipality of Nabunturan, Davao de Oro. The data were gathered through in-depth interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings demonstrated that teachers have varied experiences while teaching TLE subjects, including a blend of satisfaction and frustration, while others find it fulfilling. They also faced various challenges, including a lack of expertise in the subjects, inadequate teaching resources, and time constraints. Moreover, the findings further emphasize the importance of continuous professional development, alignment of subject specialization, and stronger institutional support to ensure that quality instruction is provided to students. Thus, this study offers valuable implications that could help educational stakeholders, educators, and students enhance TLE instruction and increase students' preparedness for both vocational and real-life applications.
